On Saturday, August 31, the back-to-back Super Bowl champion Chiefs announced the signing of running back Emani Bailey and defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu to the practice squad.
To make room for the two players, Kansas City terminated the practice squad contracts of defensive tackle Matt Dickerson and defensive tackle Neill Farrell.
The Chiefs said goodbye to Farrell, a former fourth-round pick whom the team traded for before last season, and Dickerson, who played in a career-high 12 regular-season games in 2023.
Both received Super Bowl rings for last year’s contributions.
Farrell appeared in two postseason contests, while Dickerson was active for half of Kansas City’s playoff games.
Bailey and Tuipulotu, the Chiefs practice squad additions, don’t have much experience in the NFL.
Bailey is a 22-year-old undrafted rookie out of TCU.
He rushed the ball 10 times for 29 yards during the preseason with Kansas City.
Bailey recorded over 1,200 rushing yards during his final collegiate campaign with TCU.
The Chiefs didn’t place Bailey on the initial 53-man roster and cut him on Friday, but he’s back and on the practice squad.

Tuipulotu was a 2021 sixth-round selection by the Philadelphia Eagles.
He made 28 appearances with the Eagles for the last three seasons, starting in one game.
Tuipulotu has 43 combined tackles and three sacks in his career.
Kansas City made plenty of 53-man roster shuffling ahead of their 2024 season.

The Chiefs signed running back Samaje Perine, linebacker Cameron Thomas, and even brought back Juju Smith-Shuster to the roster.
Kansas City also added quarterback Bailey Zappe to the practice squad.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will prepare to play the Ravens on Thursday at 8:20 pm Eastern Time.
It will be a rematch of the 2023 AFC championship when Kansas City beat Baltimore 17-10.
Kansas City went on to beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in the Super Bowl in Las Vegas in February.
